A Truebill alternative, now that Truebill is Rocket Money

If you are looking for Truebill, it goes by another name now. Rocket Companies agreed to buy Truebill in December 2021, and in July 2022 Truebill announced it would become Rocket Money. It is the same app with the same model: it reads the bank accounts you link. If that is the part you want to drop, here is how to leave and what a tracker without a bank feed does instead.

The CEO's post gave the reason in one line: the Truebill name “no longer serves the breadth of what we offer or where we're going.” It also told members the new features would arrive “all through the app you already know.” So if you used Truebill, Rocket Money is the same app under a new name, with the same approach to finding your subscriptions.

What Rocket Money does well

Credit where it is due. A bank feed finds what you forgot. Rocket Money reads the accounts you link and, in its listing's words, “instantly finds and tracks your subscriptions”. It also budgets across everything you spend, negotiates some bills, and offers a cancellation service: choose Cancel This For Me and its team contacts the provider. That service “is currently available to Premium members.” If you want one app for your whole financial picture, Rocket Money is the one to pick, and the rest of this page won't change that.

Bank login Never asked for. Linking is how it works: “just link them once and let the app handle the rest.” App Store listing verified Oct 18, 2026
How subscriptions get in You add them, from 600+ built-in services or, with PRO, from a screenshot. It “instantly finds and tracks your subscriptions” in the linked accounts. Google Play listing verified Oct 18, 2026
Cancelling a service Subby reminds you before the charge, and you cancel with the provider. Our cancel guides walk through each one. Cancel This For Me for Premium members, or instructions to do it yourself where it can't. Rocket Money help center verified Oct 18, 2026
Paying Free with ads. PRO is one payment and never renews. A free version, and Premium as a monthly plan whose price you set with a slider. Rocket Money help center verified Oct 18, 2026
Account None. Install it and start adding. Yes. Deleting it “will permanently erase all of your Rocket Money data and cannot be undone.” Rocket Money help center verified Oct 18, 2026

Leaving Rocket Money, formerly Truebill

  1. Screenshot your recurring list before you change anything. It is a ready-made starting list for Subby.
  2. Cancel Premium. In the app, open Settings, then Membership and Manage Membership, move the slider all the way to the left and tap Cancel Subscription. On the website it is Settings, Membership, then Manage in the upper right corner. If you bought Premium in the iPhone app, Apple bills it, so cancel it in iPhone Settings instead.
  3. Unlink your banks. In Settings, open Linked Accounts and unlink each institution. Rocket Money warns that this permanently removes the history, edits and alerts tied to that account, and any subscription cancellations still in progress.
  4. Delete the account last, if you want the data gone. Rocket Money's help center says to cancel Premium, any bill negotiations and any open financial goals first. Then open Settings, then Profile, and choose Delete My Account at the bottom of the page.

Each step stands alone. Rocket Money's help says unlinking a bank won't cancel Premium, and cancelling Premium doesn't delete your account. Premium runs to the end of the billing cycle, so put that date somewhere with a reminder and check your statement once it passes.

What Subby does instead

  • Nothing to link. No bank login and no account. Your list stays on your phone, and PRO backs it up to your own iCloud or Google Drive.
  • Reminders that state the charge. Each one names the amount, the card and the cycle, arrives at the lead time you pick, and has Mark as paid on the notification.
  • Trials with an end date. A trial goes in with the day it converts and the price it becomes, and the reminder comes first.
  • Insights, free. Twelve months of real spending, price creep per service, the year ahead and what cancelling has saved you.
  • PRO, once. Screenshot import, cloud backup, the widget and no ads, for one payment through Google Play or the App Store.

The trade is discovery. Subby only knows what you add, so build the list once from a year of statements. Finding subscriptions on your bank statement covers the merchant names to look for.

Choose Rocket Money if…

you liked Truebill for finding charges you had forgotten, you want budgets and bill negotiation in the same app, or you want someone else to make the cancellation calls. A bank feed finds what you forgot, and Subby never will.

Choose Subby if…

you know your subscriptions, or can rebuild the list from your statements, and you want a reminder before each charge without giving any app your bank login. Free with ads, Insights included, and PRO is one payment.
