Questions, answered straight.
The product questions people actually ask — including the awkward ones. General subscription how-tos live in the guides.
Does Subby find my subscriptions automatically?
No — Subby doesn’t read your bank. You add subscriptions yourself, in about twenty seconds each: snap a screenshot and PRO fills in the price, cycle and date — or pick from 600+ brands. That’s also why there’s no bank login, no account, and nothing that can break.
What’s free, and what’s PRO?
The free version tracks everything — no limits, no account: reminders, Insights, the payments log, 600+ brand logos, 46 currencies, 7 languages. It shows ads. PRO is one payment and adds five things: screenshot import, cloud auto-backup, the home-screen widget, icon requests, and ads gone. The PRO page has the full stack.
Why is there a paid tier at all?
The free app tracks everything, with ads — the ads are what keep it free. PRO is one payment: AI import, backup, widget, ads gone. No investors, no data business; purchases fund the next feature.
Do reminders actually arrive?
Honest answer: on old 1.8.x versions, some users hit broken notifications — it’s the biggest complaint in our legacy reviews. The 2026 rewrite rebuilt the reminder engine around exactly that wound: reminders re-check on every app open, daily in the background, and after reboots, updates and time changes; an unpaid payment keeps reminding you for up to a week; iPhone reminders are pre-scheduled 35 days ahead. How do I delete a subscription?
Tap a subscription’s icon to select it (tap more to select several), then use Delete in the top bar. You can also delete from the subscription’s own edit screen. Deleting asks for confirmation first.
Will my data survive a new phone?
Yes. Everyone can make a local backup file and restore from it. PRO backs up automatically every week to your own iCloud or Google Drive (the last three are kept) — restore on any phone, Android or iOS, from the same Google Drive account. The PRO unlock itself stays with the store you bought it from.
How do I restore my PRO purchase?
One tap: Settings → Restore purchases. It asks the store you bought PRO from what your account already owns — so make sure you’re signed into that same Google or Apple account.
If I buy PRO on Android, do I have it on iPhone?
Your list moves between iPhone and Android via your own cloud backup. The PRO unlock lives with the store you bought it from — Google Play or the App Store.
Is it on iPhone?
Yes — Android and iOS, one app. The iOS release is in App Store review right now; the App Store badge across the site goes live the moment it’s approved.
Does the free app show ads?
Yes — free is ad-supported; that’s what keeps it free. In the EEA and UK, ad personalization is consent-gated and you can change your choice any time in the app. PRO removes ads permanently with one payment.
Where does my data live?
On your device. There’s no account and no server-side copy of your subscription list; backups go to your own iCloud or Google Drive. The one exception you control: if you use PRO’s screenshot import, the screenshot you pick is sent to Subby to read the details — it’s processed by an AI service and isn’t stored after processing. Full detail in the privacy policy.
Is there a web or desktop app?
No — Subby is Android and iOS only. Your data stays on your phone rather than on a server, so there’s nothing to log into from a browser. The home-screen widget (PRO) covers the “glance without opening the app” case.
Can Subby cancel subscriptions for me?
No. Subby reminds you and keeps the list; cancelling happens with the provider. Our cancel guides walk through the big ones, step by step, from official sources.
Can I add a one-time payment?
Subby tracks recurring payments — any cycle from weekly to every three years, including fully custom cadences. One-time expenses aren’t what it’s built for.
What’s the story with the Play Store rating?
Our lifetime Play average is 3.8★ across nine years — including a period when reminders broke on old versions. 2.0.0 (August 2026) is a full rewrite: new reminder engine, new design, first iOS release. Judge it on the 2026 reviews.
