How to cancel Google One
Cancel Google One in the Google One app or at one.google.com under Settings, then Cancel membership. If you subscribed on an iPhone through the App Store, Apple bills you and you cancel there. Storage lasts to the end of the billing cycle, so check what you store before then, because over 15 GB Drive uploads stop and Gmail mail can bounce.

Where you bought it decides where you cancel
Google's help splits its cancel steps by where the plan was bought: the Play Store or Apple's App Store. If you started Google One in the app on an iPhone or iPad, check the App Store first, because Apple may be the one billing you.
| Where you bought it | Where the cancel button lives |
|---|---|
| Google (the web or Android) | Google One → Settings → Cancel membership, or the Play Store's subscription list |
| The App Store on iPhone or iPad | App Store → your name → Subscriptions → Google One |
| Metro by T-Mobile (US) | The plan ends the moment you cancel |
How to cancel Google One on a computer
- Go to one.google.com and sign in with the account that has the plan.
- Click Settings.
- Click Cancel membership.
- Confirm the cancellation.
How to cancel Google One on Android
- Open the Google One app.
- Tap Menu, then Settings.
- Tap Cancel membership, then confirm.
The Play Store's subscription list works as well, the same place you cancel subscriptions on Google Play. Uninstalling the app does nothing. Google's words: "When you uninstall the app, your subscription won't cancel."
How to cancel Google One on iPhone or iPad
If the App Store bills you, Google's own steps send you to Apple:
- Open the App Store app.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Google One.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
If Google bills a plan you manage from an iPhone, cancel it in the Google One app instead. Tap Menu, then Membership plans and Manage plan, then Cancel membership.
When it ends, and refunds
Google's help: "When you cancel your membership, your Google One storage and benefits won't go away immediately. You have until the end of the billing cycle to use them." After that your account drops to the free 15 GB. Refunds are rare. "In most countries or regions, Google storage plan purchases are non-refundable." A plan sponsored by Metro by T-Mobile is the exception on timing, because it ends as soon as you cancel. On a family plan, everyone in the group loses the extra storage and keeps their own 15 GB.
What stops working over 15 GB
This is the part to plan for. If Gmail, Drive and Photos together hold more than 15 GB when the plan ends, Google's storage help lists what stops. You can't upload new files to Drive, and you can't back up photos and videos to Google Photos. Gmail's ability to send and receive mail "can be impacted", and another Google page is blunter: messages sent to you "are returned to the sender." You can still sign in and see everything you have.
Stay over the limit for two years and Google says your content "may be removed", with at least three months' notice by email or in the app first. So before you cancel, check the storage figure at one.google.com. If it is over 15 GB, download or delete the excess while the plan still runs.
The mistake that keeps you paying
Cancelling in the wrong place. Google's help gives App Store buyers a separate set of steps, in the App Store, and Apple keeps charging until you take them. Check where you bought the plan, cancel there, and note the date the billing cycle ends. If you keep the plan, get a reminder before the next charge, especially on a yearly plan you will not think about for eleven months.
Storage renews quietly
Put Google One in Subby with its renewal date, and the reminder arrives before the charge with the amount and the card on it. As the date gets close, Home lists it among the next payments. Free to use, with ads, and no account or bank login.
