Subby vs ReSubs
Both track subscriptions by hand on iPhone and Android, and neither touches your bank. The difference is the bill: ReSubs sells weekly, monthly, yearly and lifetime Premium tiers on its App Store listing, while Subby’s tracker is free with no cap and PRO is a single one-time purchase.
The short version
Both apps do the same core job: you add your subscriptions yourself, and the app tells you before they charge. Neither one asks for a bank login. What actually separates them is the shape of the bill.
ReSubs is free to download and sells a Premium unlock — its App Store listing lists in-app purchases from $1.99 (Premium Weekly) up to $54.99 (Premium Lifetime), with monthly and yearly tiers in between. Subby’s tracker is free and uncapped, and PRO is one payment.

What ReSubs has going for it
Two things stand out, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
- Reach. Its App Store listing shows English and 24 more languages, and it ships on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision and Android. If your household speaks something Subby doesn’t, that decides it.
- Momentum. Version 1.36.0 had shipped within a day of our check. An app that gets touched that often is an app someone is still looking after.
It also keeps its hands off your bank, which is the right instinct for this category.
What Subby does differently
- The free version is the whole tracker. Add, edit, categorize, pause and archive as many subscriptions as you like. There is no free-tier limit to hit. Ads pay for it.
- PRO is one payment. It removes ads and adds automatic weekly cloud backup to your own Drive (and iCloud on iPhone, last three kept), the home-screen widget, service icon requests, and AI screenshot import — you pick a screenshot of a receipt, bill or store page, an AI reads the name, price and cycle, and you confirm the values before anything is saved.
- Nothing to sign up for. No account, no email, no password to lose.
- 600+ built-in service logos, 46 currencies, 7 languages. Exchange rates are kept up to date from our server, so a multi-currency list still totals correctly.
- Billing cycles that match real invoices. Eight presets — weekly, biweekly, 4-weekly, monthly, bimonthly, quarterly, half-yearly, yearly — plus arbitrary custom cadences like “every 45 days”.
- Reminders that don’t give up. Set a lead time per subscription, from same-day through a week early, or any custom value, and a reminder keeps arriving for seven days after an unpaid due date instead of vanishing the moment you swipe it away.
One payment, one store. Your list moves between iPhone and Android through your own Google Drive backup — restore on either phone from the same Drive account. The PRO unlock does not travel with it: it lives with the store you bought it from, so a Google Play purchase doesn’t unlock PRO on the App Store, or the other way round.
Choose ReSubs if…
you need an interface in a language Subby doesn’t ship, you want it on iPad, Mac or Vision as well as your phone, or you’d rather pay a small recurring amount than a single larger one.
Choose Subby if…
you want a tracker that never becomes another recurring charge, you don’t want an account, and you want the full list, reminders, insights and payment log without paying anything at all. If you’re on iPhone today, note the honest caveat: our iOS app is still in App Store review.
Moving your list across
- Open your current list and screenshot it — one screenshot per screen is fine.
- In Subby, add each service from the 600+ presets, or hand those screenshots to AI screenshot import (PRO) and confirm what it reads back.
- Set the next payment date from the real one on your statement, not from today. Subby derives every future date from the previous due date, so getting the first one right fixes the whole series.
- Pick a reminder lead time per subscription and you’re done. Nothing to keep alive, nothing to re-link.
